Sophie Kretzschmar is a postdoctoral researcher in the Nuclear Verification and Disarmament group at the RWTH Aachen University. She studied physics in Aachen (B.Sc. and M.Sc.) and has just completed her doctorate in physics, in which she analysed particle physics data from an experiment at CERN.

Now switching fields, she is interested in applying her knowledge from experimental particle physics to verification research with a focus on the nuclear fuel cycle and nuclear archeology.

In VeSPoTec, she is specifically curious about the interdependence between the political, sociological, and technical aspects of verification.
